FAQ - Frequently Asked Questions
- I entered the Factor Prize last year. Will my entry from last year automatically be considered for the current year?
- No. You must update your entry in order to be considered for the current year. Please use the “Edit My Profile” tab on your custom upload page
- How can I tell if my Factor Prize submission has been received?
- Please search for your name using the “gallery” on the menu bar. The gallery will display your images, artist statement, category, state, and website. All other information will remain private.
- I applied earlier and I notice now that the application has a couple extra fields. Do I need to apply again so you have all my information?
- No. Please do NOT reapply. We now have an "Edit my Profile" section on your custom upload page so you can provide us with all the information we need.
- What's the best upload format?
- jpg photos of your work are best. We automatically resize them during the upload to 800 pixels wide. If you resize them before upload, they will have slightly better image quality. Web photos are at 72dpi (which is common for digital cameras).
- Can I see the "large" version of my work online?
- YES! This feature was added 1/16/08. Simply click on the thumbnail on your View page and the "large" version of your work will appear. This is the version that the judges will be looking at. Images are resized to 800 pixels wide on upload. If your images are smaller than that, you may want to ask us to delete your images so you can upload larger versions.
- I'm having trouble uploading images. Getting "page not found or other errors. Help!
- We've found that the upload/resize program doesn't like a lot of "strange" characters in the file name. Your file names should have only numbers & letters. These characters in your file name will most likely "blow up" the upload: (,),",@,#,%,^,&,*,+,/,? and perhaps others. Keep the file name simple - Letters & numbers only.
